The second graders reviewed colours and fruits in English, and then played three games in English!

２年生は英語の色と果物をレビューした後、3つのゲームを英語で遊びました！

The first game was “I spy”, and the kids got to take a turn saying “I see…” and making their classmates guess.

最初のゲームは 「ミッケ」で、子供たちは順番に英語で 「[色]を見る...」と言いながら、クラスメートが当てるというものでした。

The second game was Fruit or Veggie?

Kids had to stand on the left side if it’s a fruit, or on the right side if it’s a veggie.

次のゲームは「フルーツか野菜か？」

子供たちは、果物なら左側、野菜なら右側に立たなければなりません。

The last game was a Four Corner game!

最後のゲームはフォー・コーナー・ゲームでした！

There are 4 corners.

角が4つあります。 

When the countdown ends, students stand in a corner.

カウントダウンが終わったら角に立ちます。

If the corner gets called, the students standing there are out!

角を呼びますので、その角に立っていたらアウトです！

Last one standing wins!

最後に立っていた人が勝ちとなります！

This month features St.Patrick’s Day, a March holiday in Ireland and the US!

今月は、アイルランドとアメリカで3月の祝日であるセント・パトリックス・デーを特集します！

In the US, St. Patrick's Day celebrates Irish heritage and culture.

アメリカでは、聖パトリックの祝日はアイルランドの伝統と文化を祝う日です。

The second floor English board has a spring themed alphabet, while the first floor shows spring themed topics including animals, flowers, insects, and weather!

2階の英語ボードには春のテーマのアルファベットが描かれ、1階には春をテーマにした動物、花、昆虫、天気の単語が描かれています！

The first game they played was a fruit card game.

最初のゲームはフルーツカードゲームでした。

With the cards they were holding, two students would ask each other “what fruits do you like?”, then “I like…”

2人の生徒が持っているカードを使って、お互いに英語で「どんなフルーツが好き？」と尋ね、次に 「．．．が好き」とはなします。

Then the two would play “rock, paper, scissors” to win the card.

そして2人は、カードを勝ち取るために「ロック・ペーパー・シザーズ[ジャンケン]」をしました。

The students with the most cards earned a sticker!

カードが一番多かった生徒にはステッカーが贈られました！

Afterwards the students did a word search until the end of the class.

その後、生徒たちは授業が終わるまで単語探しをしました。

The main activity for the first and second grader’s English lesson was a Valentine’s craft I did when I was around their age.

小学1年生と2年生の英語レッスンのメインの活動は、フェイ先生が彼らと同じ年頃だった頃に作ったバレンタインデーのクラフトでした。

The students were first introduced to stationery vocabulary in English. So they were also able to understand instructions in English for the craft.

まず、英語の文房具の語彙を紹介しました。そのため、クラフトの指示を英語で分かることもできました。

For an interactive activity, the students would be asked in English, “Do you have…?” and then would find and show their own stationery.

インタラクティブな活動として、生徒たちは英語で 「Do you have...? 」と尋ねられ、自分の文房具を見つけて見せます。

Next they were introduced to Valentine’s Day, a holiday in the US about love and friendship and giving gifts. Then the class made paper rose hearts.

次に、バレンタインデーについて紹介しました。バレンタインデーは、アメリカでは愛と友情とプレゼントを贈る祝日です。その後、生徒たちは紙のバラのハートを作りました。

They made at least one paper rose in their favorite color, and more paper flowers were provided. Then they glued the flowers into a heart shape.

少なくとも1本は好きな色の紙のバラを作り、他の色はALTが作った物をつかいました。その後、生徒たちは花をハートの形に付けました。  

They were so fun and cute!

紙のバラのハートはとても楽しくてかわいかったです！

The 5th graders made a presentation about where they would want to go in a region of Japan.

5年生は、日本のどこの地域に行きたいかについてプレゼンテーションを作りました。

Everyone made a good effort and made interesting presentations!

みんなさんがよく努力し、興味深いプレゼンテーションを作りました！

This month’s theme is Valentine’s Day!

今月のテーマはバレンタインデーです！

This holiday is popular in both the US and Japan.

アメリカと日本で、休日が人気がありますね。

The board features a popular English poem:

Roses are red, violets are blue,

ロージズ・アー・レッド、バイオレツ・アー・ブルー

Sugar is sweet,

The board also gives some English language facts such as a comparison of “candy” in the US and “candy” in Japan.

このボードには、アメリカの「キャンディ」と日本の「キャンディ」の比較など、英語の事実も見せられています。

Any chocolate or ame candy is called “candy” in the US!

アメリカではチョコレートや飴のことを「キャンディ」と呼びます！

Valentine gifts and receivers of those gifts can be called “Valentines”!

バレンタイン・ギフトとそれを受け取る人を「バレンタイン」と呼ぶことがあります！

The right side of the board gives some brief facts about the Valentines holiday in America. 

ボードの右側には、アメリカのバレンタインデーに簡単な事実が見せられています。

Such as how anyone can give and receive a Valentine!

誰でもバレンタインをあげたりもらったりできることも含まれています！

For the second and first graders’ lessons, we did English colors and shapes!

2年生と1年生のレッスンでは、英語の色と形をしました！

The colors were a little easy because they were already familiar with the English names;

red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, pink, black, white!

色はすでに英語の名前に慣れていたので、少し簡単でした；[レッド・オリンジ・イェロー・グリーン・ブルー・パープル・ブラウン・ピンク・ブラック・ワイト]。

So the kids got to practice saying 8 shapes in English, 18 words total were practiced!

子供たちは8つの形を英語で言う練習をし、合計18の単語を練習しました！

The next part was a game of Karuta.

次はカルタゲームです。

Last card was a red circle!

最後のカードは赤い丸でした！

January is the start of a new year, so the English board’s theme is zodiac animals.

1月は新しい年の始まりということで、英語ボートのテーマは干支です。

The board shows each of their English pronunciations.

ボードにはそれぞれの英語の発音が見せています。

There are 12 zodiac animals. 

干支は12があります。

2025 is the year of the snake!

2025年は巳年[スネーク]です！

This week’s lesson was about Christmas! 

今週のレッスンはクリスマスについてでした！ 

For the activity, the students made Christmas themed pop-up cards. 

アクティビティでは、クリスマスをテーマにしたポップアップカードを作りました。 

They made origami trees and then decorated their cards with drawings and masking tape.  

折り紙でツリーを作り、絵とマスキングテープでカードを飾りました。 

When they finished, the students would write in English “Merry Christmas!”  

それが終わると、生徒たちは英語で 「Merry Christmas!」と書きました。 

It seems they had a lot of fun!  

とても楽しかったようですね！  

Many students even want to finish their cards outside class, since they ran out of time.  

多くの生徒が、時間がなくなったので、授業の外でカードを仕上げたいです。 

On the right board, students are given a chance to learn more about foreign cultures with the brief facts about Christmas in other countries.

右のボードには、他国のクリスマスについての簡単な事実が書かれており、生徒たちはもっと外国の文化について学ぶ機会を与えられています。

Christmas is celebrated in many countries, but here I covered Christmas in the US, Ireland, Germany, Ukraine, Brazil. Mexico, UK, South Africa, Taiwan, Korea, and Turkey.

クリスマスは多くの国で祝われるが、ここではアメリカ、アイルランド、ドイツ、ウクライナ、ブラジル、メキシコ、イギリス、南アフリカ、台湾、韓国、トルコのクリスマスを取り上げました。

On the left board is an English Advent Calendar with Christmas themed words for each day up to Christmas Eve!

左のボードには、クリスマス・イブまでの日ごとに、クリスマスをテーマにした単語が書かれた英語のアドベント・カレンダーがあります！

The English board for the first and second graders gives a shorter list of Christmas words and two very common English phrases during this season.

小学1・2年生用の英語ボードには、クリスマスによく使われる単語とフレーズが2つ書かれています。

On Tuesday, the third graders got to make pictures with shapes! 

火曜日、3年生は形絵を使って絵を描きました！ 

Using Loilonote they had to go up to each the teachers, and were asked: 

ロイロノートを使って、先生たちのところに行き、たずねられました： 

“What would you like?” (「何がいい？」) 

Then the kids would respond: 

すると子供たちはこう答えました：  

“I’d like a [color] [shape]” (「色][形]が欲しい」) 

Next class we will see the pictures they made!

November English board introduces the Thanksgiving holiday season in America! 

11月の英語ボードは、アメリカのサンクスギビングのホリデーシーズンを紹介します！ 

The US has several major events in November, including a presidential election this year in 2024 and Veterans Day.  

今年2024年の大統領選挙や退役軍人の日など、アメリカでは11月にいくつかの大きなイベントがあります。 

Thanksgiving is a very busy holiday season of traveling, parades, shopping, cooking, meeting family and friends, and eating!   

サンクスギビングは、旅行、パレード、買い物、料理、家族や友人との会合、そして食事があります！ 

A brief history of thanksgivings celebrations is given on the right section of the board.

サンクスギビングの祝賀の簡単な歴史は、ボードの右の部分に表示します。 

There used to be several Thanksgiving celebrations throughout the year.  

かつてサンクスギビングは、1年を通して何度か行われていました 。 

For centuries, many Native American tribes had their own harvest festivals across in North America.  

何世紀もの間、北米では多くのネイティブ・アメリカンの部族が独自の収穫祭を行っていました。  

But there had not been an official Thanksgiving holiday until 1941.   

しかし、1941年まで正式なサンクスギビングの祝日はなかった。 

At the bottom right are some typical American Thanksgiving dishes, like roasted turkey and sweet potato casserole. 

右下には、ローストターキーやサツマイモキャセロールなど、典型的なアメリカのサンクスギビング料理が表示しています。 

I also included a dish my own family prefers to eat (because my mom doesn’t like turkey), Swedish meatballs on egg noodles! 

また、私の家族が好んで食べる（母は七面鳥が好きじゃないので）スウェーデン風ミートボールの卵麺のせも入れました！ 

Sixth graders began their lesson in Unit 6 “Save the animals”.  

6年生はユニット6「動物を救おう」の授業が始まりました。   

The students practiced saying where an animal is from and what problem the animal is facing.  

生徒たちは、動物がどこから来たか、その動物が直面している問題を言う練習をしました。 

For example: “Coral reefs live in the sea. Plastic is a big problem...”  

例えば 「サンゴ礁は海に住んでいます。プラスチックは大きな問題です。」 

Next class, the students will continue Unit 6 where they will independently practice writing.  

次の授業では、ユニット6の続きを行い、生徒たちは自主的に書く練習をします

This Monday the fourth graders finished their English alphabet textbook and reviewed English sounds with animals. 

今週月曜日、4年生は英語のアルファベットの教科書を終え、動物を使って英語の音を復習しました。 

The main class activity was learning about fruits. 

主な授業は果物についての学習しました。 

The students would make a fruit parfait by asking each other “what do you want?” and “I want...” to get the fruits to make their parfait. 

生徒たちは「what do you want？」「I want...」(「何が欲しい？」「私は...」)と声を掛け合いながらフルーツパフェを作り、パフェを作るためのフルーツを手に入れました。 

The students made some funny and tasty looking parfaits at the end! 

生徒たちは最後に、面白くておいしそうなパフェを作りました！
